About Alice Designs

Hi, my name is Alice Elliott, and I run Alice Designs, a graphic design business with a marketing twist, based in Reading, Berkshire.

What’s the marketing twist? Well, we don’t just make your leaflets look good, we make them effective as well. The marketing element will enable your promotional material start to get your customers, create sales and make your business more successful.

Alice Designs would like to educate you into how your view your paper marketing material. In today’s world creating ineffective promotional literature can be a waste of money if you don’t know how to use it correctly. It isn’t just a method of making it look pretty, sending it out and then waiting for the money to start rolling in.

We deal with all sorts of paper based marketing: business cards, leaflets, flyers, brochures, postcards, newsletters, magazines, menus and programmes. We believe that simplicity and clarity of design are paramount, and avoid all flashy gimmicks that cloud your message. An effective use of layout and pictures combined with a thorough understanding of how and where to place the text can make or break your literature.

Then the marketing concepts come into play: taking the customers’ point of view, working with the AIDA and other simple techniques, creating simple campaign modules that stimulate a relationship with your prospective customers, letting you into the insight of how to effectively combine these ideas with on-line services.

    Hi Alice!

Your blog is a great resource, and I appreciate the fact that you are local, and geared towards women, factors that are part of my business as well (http://zestwithoma.wordpress.com)!

Regarding creating case studies, do these have to be real stories? If they were fictitious would you be deceptive?

Also, I’d like a health check! Tried reaching you via the tabs on your blog but my system says I can’t. And I couldn’t find any contact info.

I’d really love to hear from you about the health check. I need one sharply!

Thanks, and much appreciation. You’re doing us women proud!

    Oma.

    Hi Oma

Very interesting blog you have, though I note the link back to my blog in your blogroll is incorrect!

Case studies needn’t be real (if that is what you mean by correct) if you are starting out, but they should reflect your ‘ideal’ scenarios. You can swap them for the real deal once you’ve got some experience later. In fact you should keep updating your case studies and testimonials as soon as you get them, as revisiting clients will be more impressed with a turnover of examples rather than viewing the same stale ones again and again.

Of course you can have a half hour health check. Where are you based? It can be via telephone or 1:1 if applicable.

    Alice
